'Gilchrist' Les Paul

'Gilchrist' Les Paul

Now here is a rare guitar! Master mandolin maker Steve Gilchrist built a small number of solidbodies early in the piece as an experiment, only two were Les Pauls. I was fortunate enough to find this one sometime around 1989. It has an incredible 'flamed' top and a slightly longer scale length than a Gibson.

I have done a lot of miles on this guitar and when I played her while opening for Joe Satriani on his 1st Australian tour, she was the talking point of every guitarist who laid eyes on her. The electrics are currently modified, master volume & tone and single coil 'roll off', the switch is also re-located, Seymour SH-1 in the neck and a Billy Gibbons Pearly Gates in the bridge.

I ran into Steve at a festival a couple of years ago and he signed the back of the headstock for me. Legend!!
